For many Realtors, real estate is a part-time or convenient profession. As for me; being a REALTOR is my second profession in life. I recently retired from the U.S. Army after serving for 24 years and with 16 of those years being spent at Fort Bragg serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. After spending the last four years of my military career as a Senior Advisor to the National Guard and Reserve component units, I knew that Fayetteville would become my home.

I have been married to my lovely wife Jenifer (yes it is spelled with only one “N”.) for 11 years and we recently welcomed our first child “Daniel” in November 2008. The rest of my family also lives in the state of North Carolina. I am a product of a military family, so I definitely know the trials and tribulations of moving as a child.

Real estate appeals to me because, like education, it’s a helping profession. Sometimes my role is actually very similar to that of a teacher, especially when I’m working with first-time buyers. In general, I see myself as a real estate consultant – a resource person and advisor. I try to help every client reach their real estate goal, which usually involves a smooth, happy closing.

I say “try,” because sometimes smooth just isn’t possible. When I can, I head off potential problems before they become actual problems. When problems do arise, I deal with them promptly and in an efficient manner. Problem-solving is actually a large part of my job description.

Every transaction is unique. On behalf of my clients I have emailed digital photos to absent spouses, thrashed through underbrush looking for lot lines, negotiated in their best interest, previewed homes in advance to ensure time was not wasted, and learned how to work with the “grumpy crabs” of the business.

Customer service has always been my highest priority. This is my third full year in real estate with a local firm called Coldwell Banker Huff & Pennink, Advantage. I am proud to be associated with a company that shares my own commitment to customer service and ethical standards rather than sales quotas.

The Real Estate industry is a good life. I have a lot of fun and meet so many wonderful people – and the occasional grumpy crab.
